HISTORYM.I.S.
Technology, Inc. was originally founded in 1969 as Computer Methods, Inc. The original
charter was to provide consulting and software services to new computer users in the
Southeastern Wisconsin marketplace.
In 1975, Computer Methods became the first software vendor in Wisconsin for computer manufacturer, Basic Four. During 1975 the original version of PROFIT, one of the first on-line, fully-integrated, multi-user software solutions, was released. This original release was designed and implemented with the joint efforts of Computer Methods and several Southeastern Wisconsin clients. By 1978, PROFIT was supported by an international network of independent software organizations and Computer Methods had locations in Chicago, Madison, Rockford and Grand Rapids. In 1982, PROFIT became one of the first commercial software products available on the infant UNIX operating system. In 1983, PROFIT was released on a variety of hardware platforms in the UNIX marketplace. In 1984 Computer Methods was dissolved and its place two organizations emerged. M.I.S. Technology, Inc., (MIST) formally known as Systems for Profit, Inc., is the result of this split, and today provides solutions to manufacturers and distributors with 4GL based software solutions on various hardware platforms. MIST in 1991 released PROFIT-IV, becoming one of the first to employ the 4GL technology. PROFIT-IV combines the functionality and features of PROFIT with IDOL-IV, a self contained 4GL environment from Thoroughbred Software International (TSI). The building block of PROFIT-IV is a relational database fully integrated to all application modules, utilizing TSI's Dictionary-IV. This base provides easy links to Query-IV (including SQL commands), Report-IV (comprehensive report generator), and Script-IV (4GL command language). MIST directly markets and supports PROFIT-IV on the IBM RISC System 6000 AIX based family of computers, as an IBM IR. Today M.I.S. Technology, Inc. directly supports over 250 customer installations from our home office in New Berlin, Wisconsin. We also continue to market and support an international network of independent software distributors, with over 1500 installations worldwide. MIST can provide the IBM RISC System 6000 sales and support as part of a complete turnkey system. MIST also provides conversion support for Basic Four clients desiring to migrate their Business Basic applications to an open system environment such as the IBM RISC System 6000 utilizing PROFIT-IV. |
