Glue
You
can use the entire box or only the cover, it depends on the depth of the box, I
felt mine were too thick so I used the cover only.
First
use a ¼ inch punch and punch the spots for the eyelets and insert the eyelets,
if you have trouble with the eyelets you can glue them in also.
It is harder to do the eyelets after box is painted but you will not
paint over the eyelets if you do them last.
Paint
the box in black. Then basecoat
with your main lumiere color. Next
sponge additional lumiere colors to accent the piece.
Now stamp main image directly on the cover or stamp on white CS.
Emboss with clear EP.
Color
the image on the CS with markers or lumieres.
Add color to image directly stamped on mache image by sponging lumieres
on lightly. Cut image out and glue
on box top. Use clear embossing ink
or Versamark and emboss box top with clear EP multiple times.
You can now add additional color to the box by sponging or stippling
lumieres.
Use
about 3 feet of cording to run through your prepared eyelets.
Adjust length to fit so it can go overhead easily.
Tie a knot under each bottom eyelet so you the length is set.
Add a bead or 2 on each side, the about 1-½ inches below those beads
join the 2 sides together through a few beads.
Prepare
the tassel by taking multiple 6 to 7 inch lengths of varied fibers and tying a
piece around the middle of the fiber bunch to hold in place.
Next tie the ends of the neck cord around the middle of the fibers and
then use glue to attach securely to the bottom bead.
After the glue is dried you can trim the fibers and tie charms on the
some of the strands if you desire.
I
also tried a domino idea where I used the inside of the box top to provide a
shadow box look for a decorated domino, this also meant making a domino into a
necklace without drilling.
I
decorated the domino by sponging a basecoat of one of the lumiere gold colors.
I next added other colors with a wedge makeup sponge – use the edge ad
dab lines on and then dab over the lines with a clean side of the sponge.
Then I used Brilliance graphite black on faces of Just Jhone images and
stamped on the dried dominos. Heat
set the ink a little and then you can add additional color by sponging more
lumiere colors over the top. In one
sample I dabbed lumiere color on a floral charm and added as a decoration to the
stamped image’s hair. You need to
do the neck cord and fiber part next. Then
I glued decorative paper inside the cover to hide the cording.
Next I glued in the domino and you can add charms, beads, etc to complete
the necklace.
