Use any size squares you wish but the area for the letter is 1/4 the
size of the square, I used 5 inch in my sample thanks card/book. You
will need as many squares as letters in the word you want to stamp inside.
Fold
the square in half and crease the foldline, unfold
|
 |
Fold the square in half the other direction and crease the foldline,
unfold
|
 |
Turn the square over and fold in half
diagonally, crease and unfold |
 |
Turn the square over so the diagonal crease is on the bottom, now
press the diagonal line down from each side and the square will fold up on
itself making a square 1/4 the size of the original. |
 |
Unfold all the squares. Lay the first one flat with the diagonal
foldline up (a hill) and take the next one with the diagonal foldline down
(valley) and attach (with glue or tape) by gluing 1 small square section
over another. Basically have
each piece positioned in a diamond and keep attaching the left diamond of
the second piece to the right diamond of the first. You must follow
the hill-valley-hill-valley structure. Now you can fold it up by refolding
each square back into itself.

 |
Stamp and decorate as desired, I stamped the
letters in the middle diamond shape where they are attached to each
other. You can also make this into a scrapbook by putting photos in
the squares, again decorate as you wish. Decorate the top outside
square, attach a strip of ribbon on the outside of the bottom square and
bring around to tie on the top - see image at top of page. |
I also made ABC scrapbooks with the alphabet stamps (see
samples on the Sample page) and there is an image of the inside cover to one at
the top of the page. I did one book that is the ABC's of my Sister's
Surprise 50th birthday/25th wedding anniversary party. I did one page for
every letter of the alphabet with pictures from the party. There are many
instructions for making books so I will leave that part off. I decorated
the letters in different ways
- stamp and emboss on decorative paper, cutout and glue on the page
- draw lines or dab dots inside the stamped letter with a Versamark pen and
emboss
- make a mask of the letter by stamping on scrap paper and cutting out the
inside of the letter, stamp the letter on the page, place the mask over it and
stamp a design inside the letter. This is much easier that it may sound.
I also made an ABC Homecoming book for my 16 year old DD and
spelled out Homecoming - she loves it. It is a nice small intro to scrapbooking
for a beginner.
